Date: 2008-12-21 05:18 pm (UTC)Sorry to hear that oscillociccinum is made from ducks
Since your website states that Boiron's homeopathic products are sourced from one of the three kingdoms—plant, animal, or mineral—I should not be surprised to hear that oscillococcinum is an animal product.
If its production requires the use and processing of ducks, I will not be able to use it anymore; I have been a vegan for several years, and the use of animals for any reason is abhorrent to me.
Naturally, I regret having found this out, because I have refused to get a flu shot for the past ten years, and haven't gotten the flu. I'll have to take my chances in the future. I suggest that you label your products stating which "kingdom" the product comes from; if this has been done and I managed to conveniently miss it, I apologize.
Without proper labeling, I will not be able to use Boiron products in the future.

Date: 2008-12-21 05:35 pm (UTC)I usually take Emergen-c during the winter: http://www.emergenc.com/ (a few of the flavors aren'te vegan, but most of them should be)
If one of us does start to come down with something cold-like, we stop using C and start sucking on zinc lozenges. That, and making sure to keep unstressed and sleep a lot usually work... I haven't been sick yet this year, aside from the short stomach bug (but considering everyone else at the same potluck got it, I'm not going to really count that since it seems like there was no way not to get sick from that).
