Well, the power went down about half an hour ago; we're here listening to NPR in the dark.

I hear the Hudson came up over its banks at 23rd street and covered the streets up to 10th avenue in a foot or two of water.

Naturally we're out of kerosene for the lantern; it may have evaporated.

More as this story develops.

I'm not on FB, but I still can't say I miss it. We're getting by with flashlights and our little hand-held devices.

No parade for me this year; this storm is scary enough! I feel like I'm camping right now, and I'm very ill-prepared.

I'm told the rain is over, but the river is continuing to surge over its banks.

i'm on FB far more than i should be! i don't think anywhere on the coast will be having any kind of parade this year!

i just saw a vid on FB i guess from a security camera? it shows an apparent explosion at the con ed plant.... dunno if you can watch it or not, but if you can here's the link it happens at the 3:10 mark, actually a couple seconds before that....then WOW! it's the con ed plant at E14th and FDR.....

i saw somewhere else that parts of lower manhatten have 3 feet of water and it's still rising.....if i have power in the morning (it flickered a bit ago) and you think of something you'd like looked up---to save your battery power, let me know and i'd be more than happy to look anything up for you!!
