The Immortal Burger was too cute! That guy obviously never tried to keep anything fresh here in the subtropics, either that or his basement has the dehumidifier from hell. In my kitchen in summer, especially, anything with bread reliably molds in less than 7 days. It's magic. I have to keep bread in the freezer,or in special plastic sleeves with tiny perforations that allow water out but are too small for mold spores. Even then ....

Also, that list of pesticide residues and chemicals? It's in everything. I don't mean to scare you, but that shit is in your drinking water, and the fat-soluble stuff is in you right now, because you bio-accumulate it. Vegetarians might take a little longer, but the dream of a pesticide-free life and body is over, the genie being out of the bottle.

The good news is that a) something is gonna kill you at some point and it isn't necessarily pesticide-related and b) there are threshold levels of this stuff under which you get no observable effect, as in, you get killed by other processes well before it can do you any harm, because your contamination levels are so low.

My better half cleans up hazardous waste for a living, and as a biochemist specializing in the crap that corporations release into the environment, which then gets into us, he tells me the research indicates that it's not the presence of the chemicals, it's the concentration, the amount per your body weight, and other personal vulnerabilities.

I can get you the detailed scientific version of this, if you want, but I thought it might be boring. He tells me that if you are concerned about your health, skip fast food altogether, and don't eat flame-grilled fast food like from Burger King. You can find that crap in everything you eat, and the fat and sodium content of fast food will take us out faster than a little xylene.
