I just saw the New York Times obit of Hon. Rob Ford, former mayor of Toronto. All I could say was, "Oh, fuck."



I mean, we knew he had cancer, and that often doesn't end well, but I'd never wish cancer on anyone.

All I could say was "Huh."

I think it was one of those times when I had the exact equal measure of two conflicting emotions and it resulted in complete neutrality.

On one hand, this was ROB FORD, but on the other hand, like you said: cancer, (which I honestly didn't know he had, but could explain at least some of his erratic behavior in hindsight).

So, "Huh."

Well, yeah—but we can hardly even choose our own deaths most of the time, let alone those of others.
